Junior B hurlers extend their unbeaten run

Monageer-Boolavogue 3-10 Cloughbawn 1-7.

Another good win for Monageer-Boolavogue’s third string which extends the unbeaten run to 6 championship games and qualifies the team for the district semi final having finished the group of 9 teams in 3rd place. After losing their opening 2 games the team has gone from strength to strength over the year. Conditions in Castleboro on Wednesday night were challenging with a strong wind but the pitch was in excellent condition. Both teams needed a win to be sure of qualification so a lot was up for grabs. The team started well and were 7 points up at half time (2-7 to 1-3) with the goals coming from Mick Ivory and John “Boiler” Murphy. Hurling into the wind in the second half put the backs under huge pressure but they managed to weathered the storm and a goal coming from Ciaran Fenlon put the result beyond doubt. Significantly 8 different players got on the scoresheet which is always good. Also, congratulations to James O Loughlin on the birth of his son earlier in the week.
