  • Under 14 football champions

The under 14 footballers made up for their hurling county final defeat with a good win over Shamrocks on Saturday in St Patricks Park. It was a low scoring game with the final score being 2-05 to 0-06, thanks particularly to the accurate shooting of Cathal Walsh. Anyway fair play to the lads and hopefully they can kick on next year and do well in the under 16.

Big thanks to both Jonathon and Stephen for all their hard work during the year and making the season very enjoyable for all involved.

  • Minor hurling

Hard luck to our minor hurlers who went down to table toppers Glynn/Barntown in the final league game on a scoreline of 1-15 to 2-8 after a titanic battle. Despite being understrength due to a spate of injuries this very young team were ahead by 1-5 to 0-5 at half time and led by 1-8 to 0-10 with 10 minutes left only to suffer a cruel blow due to a deflected goal to fall behind. Glynn pressed ahead with a few points but our lads grabbed a second goal  and a brilliant save by their keeper and another rasper that hit the crossbar denied our lads what would have been a deserved win.
    Team; 1 Sean Roche, 2 Jamie O’ Brien, 3 Tomas O’ Leary, 4 Shane Gahan, 5 Camon O’ Brien, 6 Sean McCabe,(0-1) 7 Mark Gahan,(0-1) 8 Padraig Flynn(1-4,1-3 frees) 9 Garry Ennett 10 James Walsh, 11 Bryan Dwyer(0-2) 12 James Gahan(1-0) 13 Conor Doyle, 14 Michael Power, 15 William Murphy.

  • Minor hurling v Rathnure

Our minor hurlers went down to Rathnure on Thursday evening in Rathnure. Our lads battled well and at half time scores were level at 3-6 each. Rathnure’s strength told in the second half and a flurry of late goals (3 in the 5 minutes) flattered them as they ran out winners on a score of 9-15 to 6-9.  Full foward Podge Flynn banged home 5-3 in what was a goalfest of a match.
