  • Leinster League Hurling Div 2

D2 Group 2 against Castletown Geoghegan / Baile Chaisleáin Mhic Eochagáin.
The half time score was 1-5 to 9 pts in which we were leading but the second half the visitors proved too strong for our lads and we were beaten to a score of 3-14 to 12 pts.
It was a bitterly cold day with many braving the elements to turn out to watch both matches.
Thanks to Mary and Seamus of the Monageer Tavern who provided some very welcomed refreshments afterwards, before the visitors took on the long journey back to Co. West Meath.

  • U-21 Hurling

Monageer/ Boolavogue took on Bunclody in the opening round of the U-21 Hurling Championship and unfortunately were defeated. The half time score was 1-7 to 1-4 in favour of Bunclody . It was anyone’s game during the second half but Bunclody proved stronger in the end with a final score of 2-11 to 2-7 . Bunclody winning out in the end by 4 pts. Unfortunately this means that our team are out of the Championship for this year in this section.

  • U-14

Monageer Boolavogue U14 team had their first outing of the season last Sunday the 23rd when we hosted the first round of the U14 football feile. Our boys overcame Davidstown Courtnacuddy in the first game on a scoreline of 4-5 to 1-0. Next up were St. Josephs of Wexford town who went on to win the feile group. Conceding an early goal was too big a score to overcome in a tight game of this nature. While we had several shots on goal Monageer Boolavogue could not open their scoring account and ended up losing on a score of 1-3 to no score in a very competitive game.
Determined not to finish on a losing trend the team rallied and beat Ballyhogue in the last game by 3-6 to 2-1. Best for Monageer Boolavogue on the day were Jack Redmond who picked off several scores from corner forward through the morning. Also Micheal Gahan, Harry Ellix and Jack Tyrell in goal was excellent.
