Junior football v Oylegate
The junior footballers beat Oylegate by 5-06 to 1-07 on Sunday to finish top of their group in the junior football championship and have now set up a quarter final with the Shamrocks. We started well with a goal from Damien Fenlon, but Oylegate’s reply was helped by a superb 40-yard, near the sideline, left footed, own goal by Conall Nolan. Marty Kelly got our other goal of the first half from a penalty, which left the half time score at 2-03 to 1-02. Three goals in quick succession from Damien Fenlon, Sean Murphy and John O Loughlin helped us cruise to victory.

Minor hurling v Rathnure
Our minor hurlers went down to Rathnure on Thursday evening in Rathnure. Our lads battled well and at half time scores were level at 3-6 each. Rathnure’s strength told in the second half and a flurry of late goals (3 in the 5 minutes) flattered them as they ran out winners on a score of 9-15 to 6-9. Full foward Podge Flynn banged home 5-3 in what was a goalfest of a match.Team; 1 Sean Roche, 2 Michael Power, 3Tomas O’Leary, 4 Jamie O’Brien 5 Camon O’Brien, 6 Sean McCabe, 7. Under 21 semi final
The under 21 team lost the county semi final today by 3-09 to 1-16 against Crossabeg Ballymurn. In fairness we were our hurled in most areas of the field and we have only three fortunate goals to thank for keeping the game so close. The score at half time was 2-03 to 0-10 and this showed that Ballymurn were much better at taking their scores than we were. So this match brought to an end a good run for the team had already won the district final last week. However tiredness must surely have played a role in this result as all of our players had to play yesterday for either the juniors or the intermediates, wheras none of the opposition had this problem.
Team: 1. Morgan Gahan 2. Liam Gahan 3. Aidan Gahan 4. Ray O Brien 5. Dean Fenlon 6. Niall O Reilly 7. Paul Gahan 8. Mark Walsh 9. Mick Sweeney 10. Padraic Flynn 11. Matthew Dunne 12. Laurence Murphy 13. Peter Mernagh 14. Patrick Walsh 15. James Sweeney Sub: Bryan Dwyer for Mick Sweeney
Scores: Peter Mernagh 2-04 (2-03 frees), Niall O Reilly 0-03 frees, Patrick Walsh 1-00, Padraic Flynn 0-02

Weekend Championship results
The intermediate hurlers were first out this weekend. They were playing Ballyfad in a largely unimportant match, with ourselves already through and ballyfad already eliminated. We won on a final score of 5-13 to 1-13 but the game was much closer than the final score reflected. It would be very difficult for us to hurl any worse than we did in the first half, whilst playing with the wind. THe half time score was 1-06 to 0-05 in our favour, which was very suprising given the performance we had given. The second half was a little better with John Breen scoring three goals to help us go to the top of the table. Our next match will be in two weeks against gorey.
Team:
1. Brian O Loughlin 2. Ray O Brien 3. Aidan Gahan 4. Paul Gahan 5. Niall O Reilly 6. Tommy Breen 7. Dean Fenlon 8. Mark Walsh 9. Bertie Gahan 10. Matthew Dunne 11. Niall O Loughlin 12. John Breen 13. The junior hurlers had a great win over St Fintans who were the table toppers before the match, winning on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-09.THis was a very good performance and we showed great determination. We were way on top for the first half and managed to keep our lead all through the match.
Team: 1. Morgan Gahan 2. Niall Finn 3. Daire Turner 4. Sean Doran 5. Denis Walsh 6. Chris Daly 7. Sean McCabe 8. Damien Fenlon 9. Laurence Murphy 10. Patrick Walsh 11. Bryan Dwyer 12. Ed Rowsome 13. John Ivory 14. John O Loughlin 15. James Gahan Subs: Brian Bolger for James Gahan

Under 21 hurling District Champions
The under 21 team played in the district final tonight against Rathnure in St Patrick Park and won on a scoreline of 2-12 to 2-09. Conditions made it a poor game of hurling with both sets of forwards finding it difficult to score. We traded points for the whole of the first half, but Rathnure missed many chances and we went in at half time the suprise leaders by 0-05 to 0-04. The second half produced a more intense battle, which we were on top in for most of the second half, but it still took some great saves from Morgan Gahan to keep our lead . At one stage, thanks to two goals from James Sweeney, we were nine points ahead. Despite conceding two goals in injury time we managed to win the game by three points and have now qualified for the county semi final. It was certainly not our best performance and improvements will still have to be made for the next day.
Team: 1. Morgan Gahan 2. Ray O Brien 3. Aidan Gahan 4. Liam Gahan 5. Dean Fenlon 6. Niall O Reilly 7. Paul Gahan 8. Padraic Flynn 9. Mick Sweeney 10. Laurence Murphy 11. Matthew Dunne 12. Mark Walsh 13. Peter Mernagh 14. Bryan Dwyer 15. James Sweeney Sub: Patrick Walsh for Bryan Dwyer, also Sean McCabe, Tomas O Leary, Diarmaid Breen, Brian Bolger, James Gahan and Sean Murphy.
Scores: Peter Mernagh 0-07 (0-06 frees), James Sweeney (2-00), Matthew Dunne (0-02), Mark Walsh (0-02), Laurence Murphy (0-01)

Junior footballers v Bunclody
The junior football team enusred qualification to the quarter finals with an easy win over Bunclody this evening in what was an awful game of football.
We started brightly scoring 2-02 in the first 10 minutes thanks to goals from James Sweeney and Damien Fenlon, and points from Marty Kelly, but we conceded a penalty minutes later which was scored to leave five points between the teams. There was nothing of any interest which happened for the rest of the half apart from Bunlocdy scoring their first point towards the end of the half to leave the score 2-02 to 1-01 at half time. The second half started in much the same fashion as the last 20 mintues of the first half and it took a goal from corner back Paul Gahan with 10 minutes to go to put the game beyond Bunclody’s reach. We finished well with scores from Mick Sweeney, Marty and Bertie Gahan to end comfortable winners by 3-06 to 1-02.
Team: 1. Colin Hawkins 2. Ger Daly 3. Chris Daly 4. Paul Gahan (1-00) 5. Liam Gahan 6. Paddy Breen 7. Niall O Reilly 8. Conall Nolan 9. John O Loughlin 10. Mick Sweeney (0-02) 11. Marty Kelly (0-03) 12. Matthew Dunne 13. James Sweeney (1-00) 14. Damien Fenlon (1-00) 15. Bertie Gahan (0-01)
Subs: Sean Murphy for Matthew Dunne, Denis Walsh for Bertie Gahan, Daire Turner for Marty Kelly
