  • Biggest Loser Cycle

    On Sunday afternoon in excess of 100 people arrived in the GAA Carpark ready to take to the roads on their bicycles. There was ponstel a great display of bicycles ranging from High Nellies to top of the range racers. Refreshments were had by all on return. A big thank you to all who helped out on the day, drivers, stewards, photographers and the ladies who made the tea/Coffee.

  • Biggest Loser Table Quiz

    This night started of with a table quiz and was followed by a Mr. & Mrs. Competition. There was a big turn out of tables for the quiz & three couples kindly volunteered for to tell us their secrets. They were John & Margaret Donohoe, Jimmy & Geraldine Gahan, and Colm & Rosemary O Loughlin. Refreshments were provided by Seamus & Mary

    Canavan. A big Thank You to all involved in helping make this night a great success.

  • Biggest Loser Table Quiz

    On Valentine’s night, Saturday 14th February, there will be a Table Quiz in the Monageer Tavern to support the Monageer Teams. After the Table Quiz there will be a Mr. & Mrs. Competition. Come along and support this night.

  • Biggest Loser Bog Run

    At 2.00 pm on Sunday a group of approx. 130 people gathered at Tinnacross to take part in the 3rd Bog Run. The Leaders and their teams have crossed the first hurdle with flying colours. The sun was shining, the ground was hard and the obstacles this year made it more interesting for the teams. The first man home was John Dolan followed closely by Diarmuid Fenlon, Dean Fenlon & Dec Kelly. The first woman home was Orla Stafford followed by Mary Carton, Nicola Kinsella and Bridget Stafford. A hugh thank you is extended to Jim & Josie Gahan, Ted Nolan and Danny Murphy for the use of their lands without which the bog run would not take place. The committee would also like to thank the stewards, photographers, leaders, participants, & supporters.

    Our next big event is The Harrow Vision Singing Contest on Saturday the 7th February when Yvonne Sweeney, Mag Ellix and Oliver Gahan will compete against each other.

    They hope all teams will come along to support them.

  • Bog Run

    Bog Run

    Well the first event is around the corner. The course is marked, the ground is firm, and the river is low. The course is only 4km. Registration is at 1.30 and start is at 2.00pm.

  • Nutrition, Fitness & Injury Prevention

    On Sunday last a great crowd gathered in the Complex for an information meeting on Nutrition, Fitness & Injury Prevention.  Ann Marie Walsh gave a presentation on what we should be eating, i.e. portions and foods suitable to weight control.  Kevin Murphy gave a talk on how to keep fit.  Ger Dempsey gave a presentation on injury prevention with the help of Austin Codd and Tom Nolan who demonstrated stretches to carry out before and after training.  John O Leary brought out a sample of runners and explained the importance of suitable footwear.  There was books, recipes & money off vouchers available on the night and there is spares upstairs in the complex for anyone who wish to avail of this information. All in attendance were able to sample some fruit compliments of Lisa Stafford.  The Biggest Loser Committee would like to express a big thank you to all who made this night happen and we hope all present took some useful information away with them.

The weigh in started at 7.00 pm with the Knocknaskeaugh Team led by Yvonne Sweeney the first to be weighed and finishing with the Boolavogue Team led by Oliver Gahan. Also the committee, leaders and their teams would like to thank the 3 nurses – Bridget Sinnott, Marie Moore and Joan Donohoe for carrying out blood pressure testing.
