  • Weekend games

Firstly the junior match was abandoned shortly after half time, due to bad light. It was level at the time and condittions were dangerous so it was a sensible decision

On saturday the intermediate team drew with Buffer’s Alley 3-09 to 3-09, which puts us safely through to the quarter finals. Hurling with a wind advantage in the first half we took a 1-07 to 0-02 point lead at half time and looked good to win the game. Our scores came from Stephen Murphy (a goal and a point), marty kelly, bertie gahan and a brilliant point by Niall O Reilly. Two early goals at the start of the second half by Aidan Gahan and Peter Mernagh along with a trading of points saw us ahead at one stage by 3-08 to 0-06. Really we should have won the game easily but we went asleep and allowed the Alley back into the game and they took a one point lead going into the last minute of injury time. A point from Peter Mernagh with the last puc of the game secured the draw and our place in the knock out stages.

  • Farewell to Shane

Monageer/Boolavogue GAA and community are deeply saddened and in a state of shock at the untimely death of Shane Fenlon, who lost his battle with Cancer on Monday 18th June. It’s very difficult to make any sense of Shane’s death, a young and talented hurler always in a good humour and full of life, will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Shane represented Monageer/Boolavogue with pride at both hurling and football for many years. He made significant contributions to some of the clubs great success over the years and for this we are very grateful.

Shane is being waked in his home place in Ballymurtagh from 11am today (Tuesday 19th June). Funeral mass is on Wednesday 20th at 1pm in St.Patrick’s church in Monageer, leaving the house at 12:15pm. Flowers from family members only and donations to the Hospice Home Care are very welcomed by his family.
